The Conscience of Clothing

This is more than a film. It’s a journey. It’s a process. It’s a mission. To bring a just society to the workers of the global south and doing so by starting a movement. THE CONSCIENCE OF CLOTHING is a hybrid mix of cineastic documentary and editorial content elements by independent filmmaker Patrick Kohl. What does „making fashion“ mean to the people producing our clothes and accessories? Fashion-Blogger Willy Iffland and journalist Helen Fares visit diverse actors in different positions in the industry to get intimate and honest insights. It’s a roadtrip and a progressive personal development story, translated through permanent reflexion of our two protagonists Helen Fares and Willy Iffland – taking a deep dive into the heart of Cambodia’s garment industry. Inspired by welcoming encounters with locals, THE CONSCIENCE OF CLOTHING is an authentic snapshot of an industry that accounts for the livelihood and everyday reality of roughly a fifth of the country’s population. Our topics are working conditions, fair wages, education, road safety and general life in Cambodia – but we’re building strong bridges to western civilisation „Zeitgeist“ topics such as egoism, consumption in real-life capitalism (fueled by fast fashion), intersectional feminism and sustainability in the modern world.

Aspire to the Sky

Aspire to the Sky: The Wilshire Grand Story is a documentary about the tallest building on the west coast at 1100 ft with a 180 ft spire. Soaring buildings in Los Angeles are difficult to find because of the risk factors associated with a highly seismically active zone, fire potential, and liquefaction soils covering much of the city. This one-acre lot now supports 22 acres of office and hotel space that changed the Los Angeles skyline. Art and engineering merge to create a design spectacle unique in high rise technology, making The Wilshire Grand one of the most original buildings recently completed in North America. Architects and engineers: making the impossible possible.
